As my first of hopefully many entries( I don't know if I should thank or curse you Justin) and in lu of fathers day just passing I though appropriate to tribute to my father......Robocop. He's the one on the right by the way.
As I ended another awkward conversation with Ken(that's what I have to call him, which is a whole other entry in itself) I couldn't help but compare this man with some sort of mechanical entity who fights his robotic nature at times to show his human side. First thing that entered my head was Robocop. I am sure there is a better comparison out there, since my father wasn't brutally shot up, then constructed into half man/half machine, given objectives to protect and serve, abandoning those objectives, to only seek revenge against those who made him what he was, all while trying to take down an inept corrupt city government. But this is my damn blog and we are going with Robocop.
Robocop's objectives:
1. Protect and Serve
2. Protect the Innocent
3. Uphold the Law
4. Classified
RoboKen's objectives:
1. Be an asset to society
2. Be responsible
3. Classified
4. Classified
That's right 3 and 4 for RoboKen are classified, as in I have no idea what other objectives he has in him, as in as long as I don't help destroy society and am responsible, I am ok in his book. Some would argue I have already failed RoboKen's objectives. I digress...
The objectives are strangely similar. At least in my mind.
Yet just like Robocop, just when you think Ken is all machine he pops off a random act of kindness or wisdom that blows you away. And he makes you realize that deep down, behind all the circuits and wires, motherboards and gigabytes there is a human in their that thinks about and cares for you. RoboKen's act of kindness or wisdom? Well I am a Kazarian and RoboKen's son. To get that answer you just have to look under RoboKen's objectives #3 or #4.
Love is a funny thing. You are never taught how to love. Just TO love. I think I will call the man who made me the chubby Armenian I am today and tell him I appreciate him. I suggest the one person who is readying this does the same.
Oh and you can't tell me that pose Ken is making in the picture doesn't remind you of the poses those guys make at the end of the Captain Morgan's commercials.

welcome to the wonderful world of blog posts. well done on the first. taking a classic 1980's pop culture reference and making a far-fetched comparison to something concrete and serious in your life, leading to a dramatic conclusion of the "let's hold hands and think real hard about what really is good in the world and how we can acheive it if we all come together as one..." that's gold.
now you know... and knowing is half the battle.
