Top 10 Lists

It's not a revelation. I don't know why I didn't think of these before. But Top 10 lists might be the single most direct view into one's sole. They create happiness, anger, laughter, confusion and my favorite: arguments that can't be won.

Before I post my first of many top 10 lists, I need to give credit to Drake who inspired the top 10 lists. I've really enjoyed are lists and rants (of course she will never read this, so thank you Justin and Up*Dawg for taking the time to read my blog. I love you both)

Top 10 Things that make me Happy(descending order)

10- Any type of activity outside. Whiffle ball, botchy ball. Really any activity with the word ball in it.  Geez that sounds bad. But I just enjoy being out with friends doing something. I use to play ultimate Frisbee and soccer every weekend. I miss that.
9- Making a mixed tape/cd. I consider myself a music elitist. So with that comes the idea that every mixed  CD I make is amazing and I am truly blessing someone by opening them up to the musical greatness of such bands as Bon Iver, Band of Horses and The Who. I actually try and tell some sort of story with each CD. I know it is lame, but I don't care. Makes me wish I had the job as the guy orchestrates sounds tracks for movies. How does someone go about getting that gig anyway?
8-Cuddling/Kissing a significant other. Add points if there is rain or a fireplace included. I don't consider myself a very intimate person. But I really do enjoy these aspects in a relationship more than anything else. There is a peace that comes with being all wrapped up with someone, someone who at one point was a stranger. And kissing is pretty self explanatory
7- Singing in the car/shower. I am the best damn singer you have never heard. I think it's my way of living the rockstar dream. It gives the illusion to myself that I have talent. I know I don't. I know if we turned the music down and just heard my voice singing it would be awful, yet when you sing along it is as if you are just a smooth as Michael Jackson or lyrically ingenious like Bob Dylan.
6- Boys night out. I've learned to appreciate these rare events as I get older. I do enjoy all my friends wives/girlfriends. However you can't beat good man time. Having a beer or playing cards or having a beer while playing cards. Talking sports sports and sports, sprinkled in with a little sports.  Probably could have moved up on the list now that I think about it.
5- My Fathers approval. This is one of those that I'm not really too proud of. But when I get a good job or nice work or I am proud of you. I light up like a Christmas tree. I really wish at 29 years old I didn't still seek his approval, but I do. And on the rare occurrence that i actually receive his approval I am happy to an unhealthy extent.
4- Hockey. You know that ridiculous claim that men think about sex 90% or 70% of the time. Well take out the word sex and insert hockey for me. Just assume when you are speaking to me I am going over the intricacies of how the Ducks are going to fit Teemu Selanne under the cap or if Bobby Ryan really did stick to his off ice training this summer. Yeah I'm shallow, yeah I'm not listening. What can I say. But at least I have been lucky enough to influence my friends to enjoy and play the game as well. Watching hockey is one a the few things in life that will always make me happy. The other one is Justin and a Hawaiian ribeye at Houstons.
3-Hanging with my brother. I don't know what it is about that kid. but everything out of his mouth makes me laugh. It's a hard bond to explain. I imagine it what a man eventually feels for his wife. That "I would do anything for them" feeling. There is just so much about that kid that brightens me up. I love the summers when he comes home from school.
2- Giving. Yeah is sounds self righteous. It really is what gives me the most joy in life. I get so much more from giving to others than I do giving to myself. In fact I would gladly spend 200 bucks on dinner w/ friends, but will agonize for hours over a purchase of anything for myself.
1- This blog. Ok I admit I only had 9 for the top 10 list. But this blog does make me happy. I can pretty much express anything and everything I want here.

I read your blog too you crazy Armenian. I just prefer to watch and judge silently. And I don't know why you'd want a "guys night" when our date nights are so wonderful.

Also why did you change your blog title? I feel like I shouldn't have "6 Minutes of Pleasure" displayed on my work computer...

Blackfoot - just embrace it.

Justin - Two of my favorite memories of our time at Corte Alemano. 1) Sitting in the lounge chair in the back of Ice's van(with nothing close to any protection) while you and Ice burned through cigarette after cigarette. 2) That 2 week period where we decided to swim laps, which always led to talking about our feelings.

Leslie - As I was throwing out my last top 10 list I was listening to my Itunes. A song by LL Cool J came on called "6 minutes of Pleasure" and I knew every freakin word of that song. I don't know how or why I know it, but I do. So to tribute that moment you get this title. And don't worry I will blog soon about a man's guide to being a 3rd or 5th wheel soon. You should appreciate it.
